The idea for MASTS of Whitely, A Community-Based Mapping and Story-Telling System, initiated in Spring 2022 with an immersive learning class on the mapping of the neighborhood and its history and culture, a partnership between the Department of Geography & Meteorology at Ball State University and the Whitely Community Council and members of the community. It is also supported by the Center for Middletown Studies.
The long-term aim of the project is to produce maps, reveal stories and record memories of Whitely’s past, present and future, made accessible to anyone. Everyone is welcome to participate and contribute to creating the MASTS website with and for the community.
